Dance is medicine

There is a reason we dance every morning on the Elemental retreats. There is a reason we work with ceremonial dance to integrate the process at the end of each retreat. There is a reason our indigenous roots include song and dance to honour and celebrate. It is not a reason that Western science modalities can neatly describe (but I love that they are having a go, we need this sort of research to help shift perspectives).

Dancing mirrors the cosmic play, the infinite dance, that existence really is. Lila - the Sanskrit word for divine play, reminds us that (from a nondual Tantrik perspective at least) all existence is play.

I love this quote:

"the perfect devotee does not suffer; for they can both visualize and experience life and the universe as the revelation of that Supreme Divine Force (shakti) with which they are in love, the all-comprehensive Divine Being in its cosmic aspect of playful, aimless display (lila)—which precipitates pain as well as joy, but in its bliss transcends them both."

May we all take time to dance!
