Rest is Radical

Rest is not offered in the same way to all peoples.

Rest has become a luxury.

Rest is rebellious.

Rest is necessary.

Rest is political.

Rest is healing.

Rest is radical.

My system has been labelled over the years with a plethora of 'issues'. Burn out, long COVID, chronic fatigue, IBS, endometriosis, asthma, psoriasis, coeliacs, PCOS, stomach ulcers, bubble eczema and more. A lot of labels that might really be pointing to the same thing. A body trying to survive, trying to process the joys and horrors of life, in a system that demands it never stops.

The words in the picture were quoted in one of the essays I marked for the yoga teacher training. It was perfect timing for me as I was about to embark on my 22-day solo retreat (which I am on now! this post is sent from the past)! I for one have lost the art of doing nothing, but I am seeking to reclaim it.

May we all make the space and time to go slow. May we all say a big fuck you to the relentless rate race. May we find our way.
